FLoatr flying
I was thinking about ptutting floats on my topcap.
You guys think i should put a single float in the center or the standard setup. |
floats...
If it were me, i'd build the standard two float setup and just attach them to your existing gear. Then run some wires on the back of the foats to keep them level. I flew my sig fazer on floats last year and was able to do all the usual 3d stuff and aerobatics(knife edge really hard) with floats attached. Hovering and such just took a little more power.
Be sure and make your own floats to fit the plane, and don't make them any bigger than needed so you cut down on weight. Also, don't fiber them or sheet them to save weight. Just wrap them in some packing tape and fly! Good luck on whatever you decide! Matt |
Floats
The easiest way to put floats on a plane with aluminum landing gear is to buy the plastic floats from GeeBee and instead of the aluminum struts that you have to make up, use your existing aluminum bracket up front and put another in the rear. You do need to make up some spreaders though. With the rudders we have you usually don't need a water rudder....I've done this with a few Hots and a Dazzler with great results...
