Need Advise From You Profilers

Hey there! I'm an intermediate flyer that wants to enter the world of 3-D. I've built kits and ARFs and am needing a good recommendation on a profile plane to take my OS .91 2 stroke. I've built and flown a Fazer and absolutely love it. Problem is I'm not in the mood to build right now. Can anybody recommend a good .90 size 3-D ARF I'd be pleased with? I'll appreciate your input!

I'll second that suggestion for the OMP 67" Fusion ARF. Run an APC 15x4W prop on the O.S. 91 for best 3D. I have flown this airplane with this engine setup and it works GREAT. The Fusion 90 goes together VERY FAST, usually a couple of evenings and you are ready to go! This plane does it all!

Good luck,

Jeff

The OMP models look like they might fit the bill. Questions though.......The .90 Fusion seems pretty expensive at about $260.00. Is the value there? What have they done to make it that expensive? I see the similar sized Katana from the same company is about $185.00. Is this a good flying plane? Is the Fusion worth the additional $75.00? In any case, I appreciate the input.

The Fusion is not your ordinary 3-D profile. It has carbon re-enforced beams that run end to end that help stiffen the fuse and to help keep it from breaking in half when you cartwheel it. I am not saying that the fuse is unbreakable but it can take a fair amount of abuse. It will fly very clean pattern sequences if you are into precision aerobatics if you set the low rates up on the conservative side and when you go to high rates it will 3-D with the best of them, I have both sizes of the fusion my 52" has a YS-63 and the 67" has an O.S. .91FX on it. I never go to the field without one of them. Once you fly one you will love it.
O.K. thats my opinion how about it fusion owners lets hear your thoughts.

It depends really what you want to fly, the Fusion combines 3D with smooth pattern flying. Just change neede is dual rates.
Katanas in the other side is a more pure 3D machine.
Coming from OMP quality is top notch and I do think that the diferent price comes from the engineering that Fusion has been trough.
I fly the small one and is my favorite airplane right now.
Compared to the Fazer both are years ahead in design and flying capabilitys.
Both are great.
Saludos.

The Tower/ Great Plane U-Can-Do .46 $125 with their discounts, sometimes you can get them to waive shipping and handling. Love mine, had 4 of them, fly them with a Saito .91....

I don't know how you could possibly go wrong with the Fusion. I have the 52" version (kit), and it only takes one afternoon of flying to make you want to throw all your other planes away.

By all accounts, the 67" Fusion takes this one step further. Better than Viagra AFAIC, and you don't even need to ask your doctor.

Fusion. All the way.

Go away why?

RE: Need Advise From You Profilers

gonna guess a couple reasons... the original thread is about profiles... the U can do is not a profile....

and I'm assuming that the original poster is asking about quality 3d planes that fly well...

well, the U can DO............ Ahh heck, my Mom taught me that if I don't have anything nice to say, don't say it, so I will keep this to myself....

and it is in the classic Ynot tact.....

works for me

It is widely known that a UCD is not a top performing 3D plane. Not to say yours isn't lots of fun or it can't do some 3D , but there are LOTS better choices out there.

The forum is titled "Profile and Fun Flying Planes". I though he might be interested...The rest is all opinions. And to say "go away" is just rude.

Yep... yep it is

Did not intend to be rude, the UCD is such a crappy flying plane compared to soooo many other aircraft. Fly a Mojo, a Fusion, Inspire or even a Reflex and you will agree it is time for the UCD to go away.

Good job on GP's and Horizons part on marketing the UCD and Funtana series of planes, because that is all they have going for them. Marketing and pretty covering. Very low in flight performance compared to other birds available today.

The 91 2 stroke is a toughy for a 3D plane. The big Fusion is the best on the market at this time for that motor.

LOL...Great entertainment usually comes at another's misfortune? Something along those lines. Hate to say it but I got a giggle reading YNOT's not so polite remark.

I need a Fusion. Mike!!! Heheheh

Well, I still like the U Can Do's flying, and cost and even though you guys don't I think it's a viable alternative... and cheap...

Thanks YNOT

Both the Fusion and Kat 70 would work well with the OS .91 2-stroke. The video showing Andrew Jesky flying the Fusion on our webiste is using that same engine. Plus that was a heavy prototype plane. The production ones are about 1/2 pound lighter. The Kat 70 flies great with the .91 and that is my engine choice for this plane. A purely 3d plane designed for fun fly style flying. As mentioned the Fusion is the state of the art with both 3D and pattern flying characteristics second to none. A pure "freestyle" flying plane.

Fusion all the way!! I love mine..... It's a modern 3D / precision aircraft.

I have the 52" Fusion. Most say the 72" flies better. If that's possible then get one. The 52" is quite a piece of work. I put 12 hours in mine from box to air. This is one great plane. After 10 flight I can say it will go down as one of my all time favorites. Let me put it another way. I fly with about 6 guys in a small club. There have been 3-52" fusions shipped to our club and one more guy thinking about it.

Thank you and good night.

No, I haven't decided yet. I'm in no hurry. I have 3 flyable planes and am kinda short on storage space. I bought the .91 because of a good price and you know how it is.....gotta start planning on the next plane. The Fusion sounds wonderful and I just need to decide if I'm wanting to spend that much money. My most expensive plane to date has been a Sig Something Extra and for me to spend $260. for a plane is a reach. But I have a bonus coming from work so perhaps a Fusion will find itself in my hangar. I had already considered the U Can Do as it sounds like a great plane, just on a different level than the Fusion. Also am considering an Extra 330L. I guess I need to narrow down what I want the plane to do and how much I want to spend.

RE: Need Advise From You Profilers

Based solely on the .91 parameter and in no way to undercut the fusion (cause I love my 52!), another concideration could be the OMP Ultimate. Another perfect plane for that power plant. .02
