Morris Pull Pull Hardware Question

I'm finishing up my Morris Gee W. Bee. I have three other Morris profiles and the pull pull hardware has always been really good. I can only get my pull pull wire through the hardware that came with the GWB through once. I usually go through at least twice. Anyone else had this hardware (black rods and black crimp tubing). Did you just go through once?

Yep, I ran mine thru once and then looped around to loop it through again. It wasn't easy(due to the small diameter of the metal barrel), but it is possible. in fact, the double loop probably adds more to the security of the setup than the crimp.

Morris Pull Pull Hardware Question

Same as rightflyer Billy. It takes a little work to get it thru the 2nd time. I'm paranoid. I wouldn't rig it going thru just once.
I use hemostats(I think that's what they're called). These are invaluable tools in working on models among many other things. They're basically surgical clamps like you see on all the medical shows. I have several sizes. Anyway, these provide a vice type grip on the cable, then use another pair on the metal barrel and thread it right thru. I think most hobby shops sell them..maybe 5 or 6 bucks a pair.

Trust me I know what hemos are. I was a Harley riding hippie for many years.
You guys are better than me. I don't think I could ever get it through twice. I'm going to hit the LHS and buy the Dubro pull pull.

LOLOLOL Too funny Billy!

FWIW,
I have always used those little black crimps on my Morris pull pulls..... I only go through it once and crimp. I have NEVER had one come loose. This is on about 7 Morris planes.

i've caught a lot of fish using the same "once only crimp" with exactly the same cable n' crimps supplied with my knife(just installed last nite) never a failure on the crimp....dolphin to 30lbs....wahoo to 50lbs and sailfish to70lbs (i know sounds like a fish story)guess i will have to dig up pics & post...i trust the once only!... however when flying near costal areas watch out for baracuda...they have bitten tru the cable! :)

Morris Pull Pull Hardware Question

Billy,
The Dubro Pull Pulls are a good choice that is what I used on all my pull pull setups.

Heck...Wal-Mart for the wire and #2 or #4 crimp sleeves; Target for #3 crimp sleeves.

(or a real tackle-shop for all of the above)

With a #4 sleeve, you can loop it three or four times if you're bored.

:)

With my new broken scapula I will have a lot of time to think about it. I'm going to get the DuBro.
