Right thrust...?
Now that i've crashed twice because of it i figured its time to ask,
when i bring my engine to idle, my plane wants to spin to the left almost instantly. i was wondering if i need to turn the motor to the right a little bit, or if maybe i got a larger diameter/smaller pitch prop; woud that help? thanks in advance, rob o' |
Right thrust...?
Youve got more problems than side thrust!! thatll be a factor at full throttle more than at idle!!! Check your CG's and what not!!!

Right thrust...?
cg is good, not as far back as i'd like, but i was moving it back little by little...could this be caused by the wing shifting around?, i noticed that the front of my wing wasn't glued in to great.
btw, its a H9 Pizazz and a Saito .72 and APC 13-6 |
Right thrust...?
Man Im not sure, like to see it do it to tell you, sounds awefully weird!!!!!!!!!!
|
Right thrust...?
maybe i can try and explain it a little better...
i'll be straight and level, throttle at idle and it'll just stop dead in its tracks and try to spin out to the left...just this past saturday i went home with some repairs to do because of it. if i add throttle and neutralize the stix it just spins faster...needs alot of altitiude to recover if it gets rotating...also tip stalls violently sometimes when in "harrier" flight...almost a knife-edge tumble...i was hoping to be able to fly this plane slow and low, but its been giving me alot of trouble.... will try and get some video of it as soon as possible... |
Right thrust...?
have you laterally balanced it?
Right thrust I doubt wold change much if anything. even then sounds like more than that. check your wing and stab incedence too. John |
spinning pizzaz
I had a mid-west citabria that would do the same thing. Check for washout in the wings. It took me 4 re-kitting flights to figure that out on mine.

Right thrust...?
Uproar,
Can you tell me where it's balanced on the wing ? I have a bit of Pizazz experience. Right now I'm going to guess its quite tailheavy. These planes will fly way more tailheavy than you would ever think. A student of mine had one that acted much like yours. I checked his balance and it was so far behind recommended max that it was scary. I was amazed if flew at all, but it did. However, it had some funny habits much like your describing. As for low and slow flying.... the Pizazz is ok.... but really its a might too heavy for that kind of thing. Ok, a lot too heavy. I know your not rich, but if you really wanna get down in the weeds at walking speed something like a Stickit or Menace or Smith Super Special is more in order. Save the Pizazz for windy days.. LOL That's what I do anyway. Foamguy |
Right thrust...?
My Pizazz is pretty good for low and slow... I've got a Irvine 53 and a 12.25 x 3.75 prop on it.. Lotsa snort!!! The wing loading is a little high, so it's not as stable in a hover as my SuDoKhoi.. But still lotsa fun to fly. I balanced mine 1/2" behind the checker board covering.

Right thrust...?
Right now its balanced about a finger width behind the checkerboard, it was doing it when i had it WAY too nose heavy, i was coming in at about 20-25 for landing...it still seems a little nose heavy, when i was doing the harrier stuff it wouldn't stay up i had to add throttle burst so the nose would stay up.......how do i check for washout?
i do have to agree, its the best plane ever on the windy days.....specially at our new field... |
