SE or Top Cap?
I own both. I have a slightly modified SE. and a stock top cap arf.
I had my YS 63 on my SE first. Now is on my top cap. The SE & TC are 2 totally differant airplanes. The SE is more of a sport flyers airplane. Its billed out to be a fun flyer. Yes it is fun to fly, I have had mine for 2 years. It is not a fun flyer. It will land at a walking pace. The SE will hover but it is hard to Torgue Roll. I have my tail loaded up pretty good, and I still can't get a flat spin (reg. or invert) out of it. It will harrier but is not easy. Also doesn't knife edge very will. I added 1 1/2" the to rudder. I also have a 2" counterbalance on the top. To get a good fun fling SE. You will need to built to kit, not put together the arf, and do a lot of modifications to get it to fly half as good as the TC arf in the 3D department. My top cap arf will do just about anything in the book. It will land at a crawl. It will knife edge all day long. Hovers real well. Flat spins. I can get about 1 1/2 torgue roll out of it before I lose it. Harriers. Both of these are good planes. the SE is a great sports planes, the TC is a good fun flyer. Its like compairing a stick to a fazer. Both of them have their good points and bad points. |

Perhaps I can answer Shmo's question...

SE or Top Cap?
Thanks Gramling, probably a stupid question, but glad i asked.
Seen a couple SE's at local clubs. Great looking plane! One guy here does a lot of hovers and is pretty good with it, but i didn't see him do much of anything else. maybe now i know why. Been reading a lot of posts about hovering, spins, and all kinds of wild stuff and have been wanting to get in on the fun. been practicing hovers a little with a GP extra 300 40 size that i stuffed a 100 four stroke on. So far i have gotten it to torque roll a few times (largely by accident), but it seems like i have the wrong machine for the task. anyway thanks again, Shmo |
