Default J600R starter motor

I run my J600R today and it started perfectly as usual, but on shutdown the automatic cooling didn't work, the outside temp is cold so that was not too dramatic.
After that the engine would not start again, the starter motor not re engaging, but the compressor was turning freely.

Here is what I discovered when dismantling the starter unit, the engine had lost its wiring, it was full of tiny copper parts , I'm really fortunate that none of them came out of the bullet to the inlet....

The inside bearing seems fine, as is the clutch, the only thing abnormal is that the O-ring has been rubbed down by the spinner, it was perfect two runs before when I checked it.

what do you think? did I put the starter engine incorrectly or is it just bad wiring in the motor? (23 starts)
what type of motor is it ?
should I replace the clutch as well?
thanks
Florent

Default RE: J600R starter motor

Hi Florent,

Sorry about the e-starter but like you said, you were lucky that none of the broken wire get into the engine.

This type of failure is rare but possible when the clutch assembly didn't disengage properly. The electric starter was dragging with the turbine spinning up to 160,000 rpm resulting in total destruction of the motor.

Bendix needs to be pressed in correctly and you may not have the proper tools. We will replace the electric starter, bendix assembly, and O-Ring for you. Please contact us at [email protected] together with your shipping address.

Rdgs,
Kraivuth S.

Thank you so much Kraivuth!

I send you an e-mail with my adress.

Is there a special tool to put the starter motor back?

Thanks

Hi Florent,

Your starter motor is dead...just replace the new unit directly to your J600R. It should slide right in with no problem. BTW, please send us your engine's serial number for reference. Thanks.

Glad to help and rdgs,
Kraivuth S.
