PST J600R EGT probe..... Need

I'm looking for a EGT thermocouple probe for my turbine. PST has been REALLY SLOW to respond. Does anyone have an extra one laying around or know of any company that sells one that will work with this turbine. Dreamworks has some but it is for the xicoy upgrade and uses a Jr type connector and not the typical connector that comes with the turbine.

help please getting closer to figuring this turbine out so I can maiden my BTE Reaction 54

thanks

Johnny

Johnny,
I believe PST uses the common "K-type" EGT probe with their own connector to the TEMS ECU. In my experience, the EGT probe is like a common light bulb-either it works or it doesn't. If you reading ambient EGT temps and seeing changes during startup and running then the probe is probably OK. The depth of the probe tip into the tail cone determines the start and running characteristics of the turbine. I really think that your -600R issues are related to the ECU parameters and/or combustion problems. Have you observed the flame pattern in the tail cone during idle and runups? It should be an even orange or red circle. This is best viewed during darkness, either with a mirror or standing back from the turbine with binoculars, etc. I've done this with the plane or turbine secured to a table or test stand. Hope a PST owner chimes in with some sea level parameters also.

I did start it up last night and stood behind it a few feet and can see a nice flame all the way around as it idles there. I did go back to the last settings from PST when turbine was sent in for bearing change. The gentleman I bought it from flew this turbine at 7000 elevation. Maybe that's what's the problem so I reset all ramps to what PST used on the test stand and will go from there. He said it ran great and only a few flights then it sat for about 2.5 years. The more I start it the better it gets. Maybe getting bearing nice and lubed. Will run it tomorrow with new ramp values and see how it goes. Was just looking for another probe as a spare just in case. Dreamworks sells them but with a Jr connector 3 wire. This uses 2 wire. Any other turbines use this kind of temp probe?

Dreamworks has them, thye're used with Xicoy ECUs. It has a JR plug, but with only 2 wires, you could always splice in your old plug.

Johnny,
Try the ramp values posted by DP-01 in the related thread. If these work OK, I would slow the throttle response down using the "servo slow" function of your transmitter-start with a second or two.. Some guys actually link the servo slow function to their retracts so when the gear is up the function is activated. With the gear down the function is inhibited or reduced for landing when a faster response is needed. Good luck and let us know how it all goes.
