High Idle
 

I had my 1300R idle turned down to about 33k a couple of years ago. Lately I was working on the start parameters to get a smoother start and reset the data to factory settings. Now my idle is back up to about 39k. This makes my jet difficult to slow down with the extra thrust, how can I reset the idle to a lower setting?

Hi Tom,

You should be able to set Low RPM back to 34K thru the GDT's "Adjust Idle Revs" function (refer to Operating Manual page 17).

"Now my idle is back up to about 39k" Is this the reading while the engine is running? To set lower Idle RPM while the engine is running, please refer to manual page 21 - "Calibrating MIN and MAX rpm - Adjust Idle Speed"

Got my idle adjusted. Now I am having a message "start fault". I hear the start motor click then get the messaage. If I turn the compressor by hand then attempt the start again it will start normally.

This issue is not related to ecu. My suggestions:

1. Check if your starter bendix and O-ring need cleaning/replacing
2. Make sure there is no oil residure on the O-ring
3. Do not use WD40 can or spray lubricant directly onto the bendix assembly. (Apply droplets of sewing machine oil)
4. Check starter cable for good contact
5. Have you had any "Hot Start"?
6. Have you used any Co2 fire extinguisher on this turbine?

On your next start, please observe the spool down and see whether the compressor/turbine gradually come to a stop with small friction or do they come to stop suddenly. Please let me know.
