So nice of you to drop in Mr. Cranfild. Do you have all your gear in order for this years round of races?

I sure hope Dennis has his BBQ gear in order, I'd rather eat his cooking, than fly against him

ORIGINAL: SCPYLONRACER

The issue is if the “2 second increase in speed†is accurate, this new product release from Henry and Dave has effectively made all the QM-40 engines obsolete including the Jetts. This product release is great from a business standpoint for Henry and Dave but I don’t see this as a good move for pylon community. We not need to increase the QM-40 speeds and this move will undoubtedly cause more racers to drop out of the event and the loss of participants is not something that pylon can afford at this time. The die-hard racers will spend the money to stay competitive but many racers won’t and just fade out of pylon. Also, you can count on a new Q-500 engine.

Bill
I second this well spoken point.... the diehards will always continue. In the east, north of Florida, we are out of 422 and soon will be out of 428 completely. There simply are not enough 422/428 racers left to hold an event. We will attempt one more 428 race this year at PGRC, b uty if we do not get enough racers to hold a viable race... we will never have another 428 race. If 428/422 as a sport was healthy I would be first in line buy one, I however, cannot justify it and I am sure I will be one of many. How much faster, more expensive does this hobby have to get before someone realizes more speed and expense isn't the problem? Gonna miss all you guys.... used to be so much fun.

My next $400 purchase will be in F1 Sport. For that amount I get an engine AND airframe ( not "or" ), and I can use it at the local field 52 weekends a year ... plus, there is actually at least ONE other guy in my time zone who has one. Maybe we'll race 'em!

As I've said before, we don't need more speed; what we need is more competition!

Budman,

Oh, I don't hold it against him. Everybody lets their standards slip once in a while.

Sometimes I feel like this guy:

Kevin,

Oh, for sure, I'm doing that, too. But the question was what to do with $400. It's hard to spend that much on Q40 Sport, unless you buy two of em ... including engines.
