How to secure two Qtr Midgets

1 Attachment(s)
I have this box, and I am scratching my head wondering how I can secure two fuselages, and two wings without cramming if full of bubble wrap. I'm thinking, I would like to secure the planes with some kind of strap, but I am not sure how to secure the strap. I am also thinking if for some reason the fuse and or wing jars loose, it would for sure damage the planes without some filler.

Does anyone else have this type of "Triangle Box"? Interested on how people secure thier planes.

"Super T" (Travis Flynn), has been using a "triangle box" for several years. He riveted velcro straps into place to hold the wings/fuses in place. He used rivets with large flanges, and maybe even washers, to spread the load of the rivets out and keep them from pulling through the coroplast.

Hi Mike,

Where did you get that box from. Like Gary says I have been using that for years. In fact that box has to be one of the ones I had made.

Put a wing on each side and the 2 fuses nose to nose on the bottom. Strap it all in with velcro, rivets and washers.

Holy crap! Tflynn on the web....BTW, got those gear mounted in that Dago Innovation..the wing is ready. Got the switch changed and the elevator servo changed..just add the tank, rx, and battery.... and the glow setup... booyaa...we be flying..

Hey Schmidty... I'm putting this thing together thinking of you man. I know how fast you build, this will be an extra missile for Czech...

Mikey D... Travis' way of packing that box works pretty darn good. If you choose not to use rivets, I suspect that wrapping both wings and both fuses in bubble wrap... then using lots more bubble wrap to take up the extra space.. .that would probably work just fine. You just don't want everything moving around a lot..

Thanks that was helpful..I appreciate it.

Travis, I found the below quoted thread posted by another member on this forum. I called the company mentioned your name, and the rest was history. Hopefully I didn't step on any toes?

"I have used Pack Lite Systems to construct my shipping containers and am very pleased with them. Travis Flynn and a few people from Florida are also using them, Enclosed is a link to their website. http://www.pack-lite.com/ Prices are about $100 - $150 for a QM 40 Q500 sized box . They will custom make any size you require. "

Who do you talk to at Pack Lite? Do they have the dimensions on file? I need a Q500 and a Q40 box, or is it worthwile to get a box that holds 4 planes?

Nice box, cool design.

Mike, I think the best idea is rivets with washers and velcro straps.

It's done, went with rivets and velcro. Will give it the shipping test next week.

Your design?
