electric 40 pylon electric convertion

Another fun experiment was to take a old school nitro 40 type pylon racer ( formulla one ) And convert it to elecrtic WITHOUT loseing top speed Well It was dificult had to use a Nue motors 1521/2y/s brushless motor and a 2 , 5 cell 5000 mah packs in series to make a ten cell system The legal weight to race this plane is 5 pounds or under . well the batteries were total 3 pounds So it is not legal for raceing But it wild fun its top speed is close to and more (then in a shallow) dive to 200 mph NUTTY FAST It dose not turn tight like a light weight fomulla one but flight more like a typical turbine jet dose And similar landing carator The nue motor turns the 8 x 10 apc propat 24 000 rpm and the prop noise is ear piercing almost as loud as a nelson 40 on a pipe. But it works and it freeks every one out at my field a real jaw dropper
total flying weight was about 7.5 pounds Im not brave enough to pull full G turns the wings will probly fold and with 700 dollars of lipo battries on boad.... FOR GET it hahaha entire power train cost about 1200 dollars but wow what fun.

Interesting... you obviously have far too much time and $$$ on your hands! Out of curriosity, how long does it run, do you run it flat out for 1.5 minutes or just burst speeds.
