Default Short notice.. RCBarnstormers Fall 2011 424/426 / EF1 race

See flyer below - the EF1 will be for the fun of it right now, not sure how many of the folks will be bringing one, but we thought we might give it a shot.

I'm hoping I don't have to make a business trip out of town, the weather is looking good - last forecast I saw was for mostly sunny and a high of 85, about twenty degrees cooler than it has been!

Hope to see a bunch of you there,

I'm looking forward to getting out of this Texas heat for a couple of days and getting back to Jayhawk country! Rock Chalk!

Looks like I'll probably be in town, hooray!

Most recent forecast is a high of 88, low in the upper 60's, mostly sunny with only a 20% chance of precipitation.

It might turn into a decent day after all!

Looking forward to seeing you guys.

As much as I hate to show my lousy scores.. here they are!

Jessie hit #3 pylon in the flyoff for 2nd / 3rd in 424, so Scott H was 2nd, Jesse 3rd in that event.

I had terrible luck. One midair, one pylon (#2) sorta took me out of 424, and one wingtip in the weeds around 2-3 took me out of 426. I've had better races... but then again, I needed new airplanes anyway, right?

Pile o'pieces! Actually, my good friend and most excellent builder Lonnie Finch is repairing the 426 wing, it will live again on another fuse. The other stuff, well, it's been "recycled"...

Don't forget the Wichita race on the 17th of September! I hope to have at least one each 424 and 426 going by then..

yeah, it was a bad day. The midair with Steve was pretty spectacular, though..

Yeah, parts were still drifting down 5 minutes later.

In spite of the carnage, Gordon still managed to call for the fast time.

I stopped counting after awhile, but I'll bet that there were about 9-10 planes lost that day. I've been to COMBAT contests that had less carnage... I'm currently painting my next airplane in hope that it lasts longer than it's predecessor. Also new bearings are on the way as preventative for my other engines. My best engine is now just a fishing weight...[&o]

Don't you just hate it when that happens? I've got one of those sinkers, too. At least it provided a spare muffler & carb..
