RE: N.Tx. Pylon Racing Org's 3rd Q-25 & EF-1 Pylon Race for 2012
I hope that you are all planning to attend the next race in the North Texas Q-25/EF-1 series. This race will be held at Gary Parnell's field THIS Sunday June 3rd. The start time is much earlier than typical, so please get there early.
This site is an "unimproved" grass flying field approximately 1 1/2 miles south of the Hawk Field Fliers location. The site does not have a permanent shelter, so bring your own shade and water. Gary Parnell tells me that he intends to install charging stations for the EF-1 guys, but just in case, be ready to recharge your own batteries.
Directions:
From Us 287:
Take the Exit to the west FM917 marked as Heritage Parkway proceed past the Mansfield jail and past the 287 business. you will go about 3 1/2 miles to Mesquite dr. this street is just past the pawn Shop on the left also. Make an immediate left and go 1 mile to the last house on the left. You will see several tall radio towers in my yard Turn at the mailbox to the left and proceed to the marked parking area by my hangar.
If you are coming from I35W:
Take the FM 917 exit between Alvarado and Burleson to the East for 10 miles. When you pass the Valero on the left take the next right to Mesquite dr proceed 1 mile to the last house on the left, turn in at the mailbox and down to the marked parking area.
Coming from Hawk Field:
Go south on second avenue to the intersection of Heritage Parkway. Take a right turn for abt .8 mile to the Mesquite dr. Turn left go about 1mile and the last house on the left with tall radio towers in yard take a left past the mailbox to the marked parking area.
Or use the GPS data in the previous posts.

RE: N.Tx. Pylon Racing Org's 3rd Q-25 & EF-1 Pylon Race for 2012
Attention all EF-1 racers:
The race this weekend will be run according to NMPRA rules. There are no "special Texas exemptions".
There are 2 inexpensive Turnigy motors that have been used recently, these motors are not approved as they have a significantly higher power/rpm output than the approved motors and create a significant disadvantage for the other racers. The EF-1 event is not intended to become a "motor hopping" contest. The following note comes directly from NMPRA
QUOTE:
Currently there are 4 approved motors for EF-1.
They are:
The E-Flite power 25 1250 kv
The OS 25 size motor
The Aerowind 1300 kv motor. (see attached picture)
The Turnigy motor (SK3542-1250) that is approved is pictured above. Any other motor is not
approved from Turnigy. It must have the SK3542-1250 part number.
As of this date no other motors are approved.
Regards
Dan Kane
NMPRA President
END QUOTE
Please insure that you are in compliance with both the letter and spirit of the EF-1 rules. It is critical that this fledgling event have the opportunity to become what it was intended to become and not degenerate into a "motor of the week" event, as has happened in other RC Pylon events in the past.
All EF-1 aircraft will be tech inspected for NMPRA rules compliance. Please have your cowl removed so that the motor can be inspected and have your batteries available for weighing.
We are all looking forward to a fun day of racing, hope to see you there!
