Default New Q-500 Racer

Hi All,

I have just completed construction on a MadDog Q-500 Racer, the engine is a Rossi 23R40 and using the black minipipe at this stage. First Test Flight was scheduled for today but was postponed to next week.

Here are some photos.

Regards

Werner...

Looks good, the Mad Dog is a great flying plane. Just curious, what is that Red circle behind the prop? If its a plastic spinner backplate, I'd get rid of it. Put a simple aluminum prop nut on there. Fox makes a nice one, so does Dubro, and also Darrol Cady at www.darrolcady.com

Is that pipe supported anywhere?

Let us know how the flight goes.

Here is a picture of the Cady Spinner. He has them in both 5/16" x 24 or 1/4" x 28 threads.

I'm not sure what the Rossi has, but I would bet its the 1/4 x 28.

Heres a picture.

daven,

Thanks for the response, i will remove the spinner and get the prop nut, what is the reason that you would not put the spinner on.

Yes the Pipe is supported just out of sight between the landing gear with a aluminum support.

I will let you know when it flies...

I don't like plastic spinners when you start getting up around 15,000 or more RPM.

I've seen them come apart.

I've felt them come apart and have the scars to prove it. Never again.
