Backplate mounts
Hi
What backplate mount are people using? as OS seem to have changed the PCD on the AX and the mounts for the FX do not fit.

RE: Backplate mounts
I just got a predator from lanier, strictley for just buzzing around the field .I've an os 46fx I'd like to put on it,is there any way to mount it besides buying one of these back plate mounts. I was thinking of just making a ply spacer ring the and using longer bolts going from the inside of the firewal into the engines backplate. Would this work?

RE: Backplate mounts
ET trying to mount as you described would be a mess. Very difficult to remove or replace the engine and a leaky backplate all the time as the firewall compressed.
A Dave Brown mount will work fine and many have used them starting out. Also check that link for LCM performance I think he has some of the inexpensive doubler type radial mounts that might work, these do not replace the original backplate.

RE: Backplate mounts
If you use a regular mount, I would suggest the Hayes mount. The bolt pattern on the hayes is identical to that used by most of the backplates, and the Nelson engines. You never know if you'll want to step up, but if you do, at least you won't have to redrill new mount holes.
