New SENIOR Q-40 Record
Gino Del Ponte set a new SENIOR Q-40 National record this week end at The JR Gold Cup, held at Whittier California, of 1:01.73, & a back-up time of 1:02.22. This was done with one of Lyle Larsens new Vendetta’s, with a new laminar flow airfoil wing. Gino was using one of my wood props, 7 3/8" dia X 8 ˝ pitch, turning 23,200 RPM Peaked, backed off to 22,800 RPM.. He used a Nelson engine, built by Dave Shadel, set at .191 & .016. Good engine Dave ! This engine turned the APC Black carbon 7.4 X 8 prop, a solid 25.200 RPM peaked. Gino is now bearing Futaba colors, and his new Futaba T9CAP Radio performed flawlessly...Thanks to Lyle Larson, Mike Stokes & Futaba, Dave Shadel, Henry Nelson, & Tony Lopez (caller), for Gino’s winning combination..........
