Default Racin Horror

Racing Horror

A horror I will never expose myself to, even for racing.

I remember a fun fly we had in Michigan late in the '70's where we ferried people and their gear back to the flying field on snowmobiles! There was so much snow that we couldn't get there with our cars. A number of the people had devised some form of propane motor pre-heaters. Most of the planes had little skiis. Luckily, it was sunny and there was very little wind that day. Everyone seemed to have a good time. If you're desperate to fly, then who knows what you'll do.

That does not look like fun. Notice the Skyraider looking plane than seems to have met the timer!

That's looks like a great time.. I've flown quickies on skis but never actually raced.. When you live in a place like that you have to get your flying in when ever you can.. I will say that setting the needle is pretty cold on the fingers though..

Hi guys. Its very nice that you have been visting our Swedish pylon racing (SPI) website. It realy was very coold that race. 25 pilots turned up and raced anyway. We have a period of 4,5 mounth (Nov-Feb) with winter and no pylon racing competitions, so in the midle of Marz we are very hungry. We uselly fly AMA 424 and sometimes 428 (FAI fuel) in the spring, later in April we fly FAI F3D also. Due to our climate, we are used to the cold winther and have racing equipment thats works below zero degrees, but -20 degrees where though. My Jett engine had a very damaged piston after the race.
