paintin quickies
Can some one point me to a thread with painting tips for my new Q500?? I will be glassing the wing and fuse. I will probly use rattle can paint this time. is rustoleum the best , or does someone have another suggestion??

Either Lustercote or Painters touch rustoleum well work fine. Painters touch is much cheaper. With either paint spray apply additional coats every 15 minutes to 30 minutes or wait 24hrs between coats. If you spray say 2hrs after a coat you will think you sprayed with paint remover. Let the final coat set for week before getting fuel on it. Before painting apply a primer. To avoid primer frustration ues a good automotive sanding primer. Paint it on and sand it almost all off.

Nope I don't get that fancy especially with Quickies which have tendancy toward a shortness of life. That's why I'm not going to use automotive paint and spray equipment anymore.

I am painting my flightbox and a new Q500 with rustoleum. when is the right time to pull the masking tape??? when completely dry or after it tacks up say a 1/2 hour after spraying??

Pull the masking tape off while the trim is still wet.
If you pull the tape off immediately after spraying the wet paint edges kind of settle down. If you do it when dry the edge will be a step the thickness of the tape. The trim may also peel of with the tape.
