Default Seeker Obliterated

Well, darn it. My beloved Seeker got obliterated yesterday in our Q25 Winter Series was playing catch up and cut the pylon by about 40'. I don't know if I have ever seen a plane in so many pieces. I need to build a replacement, and although I know I can not design a better plane (I really need 2 planes, I can't justify to the wife 2 kits and an engine and flight pack), I am looking for a source for cores. Is there anyone that you can order cores from that knows what is expected if you tell them you need a Q500 core with MH16 10" cord 23.75" panels?

Purple and white was my Seeker... was the fastest plane in our Q25 LOVED IT!!!

Glad you liked the plane, although thats not the airfoil the plane was designed for.

I know Kevin Matney will cut cores, and I believe you can get cores through www.supertrc.com

Also, I saw on Towers site that Dominator 500's are on sale for $39.99 and they come with foam cores (not sure on the airfoil). I don't think they come with any hardware so you'd be on your own for that, but thats pretty cheap for a kit with cores.

The dominator my son and I are building did come with sheet metal landing gear, but not much else in the way of hardware that I remember. I'll have to take another look in the box tonight, i'm still at work right now and can't remember for sure. So far the kit is going together ok.

Thanks Dave. From what little info I could find on airfoils, it looks as though the MH16 would be good for a 25 powered Q500. With the sport racing and the average pilots skills it looks as though I might be building quite a few of these. I got hit last year, and then in this mini series. I was going to just make a simple fuse with conventional tail, not try to copy anything in particular. For what its worth, I was told by a fellow that I had an average speed of 96mph over the coarse, and then a few weeks later someone else corrected me and said that was a radared speed. I don't know which is correct, but it's not that fast in the whole scheme of things. Is there an airfoil that would be better for this application? I have read post where I get the feeling that the writer believes that it's not important, but I believe that if I have to choose an airfoil, I should at least try to find one that suits the application intended.

speed of 96mph
That is a very good speed with a .25 engine. We radared some years back in California, and they ranged from 90 to 100 with most at the lower end.

When we finished up our OS .25FX racing up here, most speeds ranged in the lower to mid 90's. On a couple occasisos we could hit 100 or 101 on the radar gun, but it wasn't often. My Quickest was a doddger at the time which liked the old wider blade 8x6 master airscrew as opposed to what most people were running, the APC 7.8x6 pylon prop. Since we flew on a shorter course (I believe it was only 300 foot) I liked the quicker accelleration MA, while the APC would go faster but not turn as well.

I've got to say... I had no intentions of pylon racing. When I was 15 (in '93) my buddy and I would work the races and I enjoyed watching. I did notice how there were not races any longer but thought nothing of it. Then, in December of '06 when some of the guys started talking about club racing I committed to join in. Now I am HOOKED!!! It turns out I'm good at this. I was hoping that with all of the Q25 interest ( Three clubs in DFW will be hosting a total of 10 races in our '08 season) maybe this would lead into 424, but it seems as though there is a real issue with having enough space to host with the current safety rules. My home club is in Benbrook Tx, and we had to get a waiver from AMA just to have Q25 races. [:'(]
