You guys should start signing up in droves... AJ throws a well run, fun race!
At the end of it all, he groups people by times, and has one more round for the fun of it - those are some close races!
Tons of fun, good guys to race with. See you there!

Yes, this should be a great race. With racing seeming to be growing in the Kansas City area, it should be an exciting September and October, with the Barnstormers across the state line, racing 424 and 428, and some of us going to Muncie for the CAPS race.
We are trying to get a group of people together to go to Muncie, it would be a great experience for alot of the new guys in this area. Please contact me if you are interested in going-the more the merrier, and a great warm-up for our race.
Duane

Hey there, this is Ron B. prez of the Warsaw RC Club down here at Lake of The Ozarks. I was raised in L.S. when it only had a few thou. people in the 60's. Been down here at the Lake since 1989.
A coupla of us down here would like to come an watch this competition, an was wondering if it is open to the public to view, and is it still at the old RC field at Jacomo by the sheriffs office?

Heck, c'mon up and race!
I'm sure the KCRC club would love any and all spectators to come watch. The race is at lake Jacomo, check out the flyer that AJ posted at the top of this post. Not sure about a Sheriff's office, but it is at the lake.

Don't forget to go pre-register! It helps the computer guys get all the matrix prep done on Saturday morning if you're already in the list..
Let's make this a great turnout! It should be a fun race, the weather looks good, partly cloudy, high of 74, lows in the 60's..
I'm looking forward to Saturday!

We'll do our best to try an get there then. I'm in the backhoe biz down here and I take care of quite a few water districts. But everything is looking OK for this weekend though.

Ron,
We hope you can make it up. I'll be on the starting line most of the day working as starter. Feel free to ask Craig White or any other racer anything you'd like. We're still pretty new at running races but we're starting to get the hang of it around here...
Safe Travels.

What a race! There were 28 entries, six rounds of racing, full course workers, with lap counters, and light system. KCRC put on one of the best races in the midwest. No reflies, everything went very smoothly. So if you missed it, you really need to plan on next year. AJ Seaholm did a GREAT job. I'm sure more will be posted later with pictures (talking about maybe a 2 day race next year).

RE: KCRC 424 Fall Classic Race, October 4th
Thanks Duane. And Thanks to our great club KCRC. I couldn't be more proud of our members and the great job they did organizing and officiating this race. You made my job as starter, very easy. Our CD Craig White did a great job building the lap counters and running the show in the pits. Great day!
The lights and clock constructed by the Olathe Barnstormers worked flawlessly for the 50 heats flown. We knocked out the last 3 rounds at 5.7 minutes flag to flag, a testament to the pilots and our great course workers.
Huge THANK-YOU to everyone that came out to support this event. As Duane said, we had 28 registered pilots to start the day. We lost a couple during practice but filled 7 heats per round.
Duane Gall traveled all the way from Colorado. Tom and Ellie Degroodt came down from Iowa as did Keith Begin. Charles Gray came over from Indiana and the Millers made the long trek from Omaha. The Jumps and Victor Kirkpatrick hailed from Wichita. Dana Calef made the drive up Highway 71 from Joplin. The always entertaining Rayne brothers came over from KS, as did our normal contingent of Barnstormers.
The racing action was very good all day. The quality of competition in the area continues to improve. The fly-off for first between “The Chop” Ulledahl and Eddie/Karla Jump was pretty spectacular, though it ended a little early. Coming across the Start/Finish line on Lap 3 both planes got tangled up in one of the loudest mid-airs I’ve heard in awhile. The pits erupted in claps and cheers to show their appreciation for the show. The contest defaulted to time since neither finished the fly-off. Ulledahl had the fast time and earned a great victory.
Eddie flew awesome all day and has improved tremendously this season. I can tell the time under the tutelage of “Clean Sweep” Tallman is paying off.
The fly-off for 3rd was no less entertaining. Duane Hulen, Robert Williams, Lonnie Finch, and Rick Miller put on a heck of show. Causey has some great photos of all 4 planes stacked up through 2/3 (I’ll get those posted with a complete placing later this week). It turned out to be a cutfest and Duane Hulen kept his nerve, flew rock solid, and didn’t cut, the perfect fly-off winning combination.
Scott Causey flew well all day and took home the fast time honors. In the Fly-Off round he posted the first teen this season with a 1:18.80. His father Larry called for him all day, hope I don’t get cut…
KCRC will host 2 races next season, the last weekend in April and the first weekend in October. Racing continues to grow with the 424/short course formula and I hope we can carry the momentum into next season. We don’t plan to change a thing next year other then have a 2 day event next October.
Fly hard, have fun…

Great pictures of the winners, AJ -
Please pass along my thanks to every one of the KCRC guys that came out and spent their saturday working so that we might race.
We had some AWESOME close races on Saturday. At one point, we had a race where all 4 planes were so close for the whole ten laps, that the pilots weren't always sure which plane they were flying!
You all need to put KCRC on your race calendars for next year - the Barnstormers, too. We've had 4 good races this year, and it just keeps getting bigger.
Thanks again to KCRC and AJ..

Attached is a copy of the final standings. I corrected my earlier post, Robert Williams and Rick Miller were involved in the fly-off for 3rd. Heck of race.
Should have Causey's photos in a couple days.
This should provide lots of ammo for a winter of bench racing.

Scott,
We'd love to have you come race with us sometime. We're having a lot of fun with it...
DN,
That was a Stubby sighting. Little sucker was pretty fast, squirrelly, but fast.

Sahartman21,
Scott and Larry Causey provide the great photos. They take the pictures, I post them on the web.
Chop,
Where's the letter to Causey you had written on your sticker? I figured we see a reproduction of that by now...
