V-Tail Question
Finally finishing up my Viper, The question is on the control throws for the V-Tail
When i give it up both surfaces go up and vice versa for down Which is good. When i give it left rudder the left elevator goes up and the right elevator goes down Is this correct? Thanks |
RE: V-Tail Question
You need to reverse them. Left is left and right is right.........;)

RE: V-Tail Question
Reversed them with Right Rudder
Left elevator goes up and Right elevator goes down Is this now correct? Thanks |
RE: V-Tail Question
I think that you didn't change anything from your first post. In both you say that the left ruddervator goes up. This will produce right yaw which is the opposite of what you want. When looking from the rear of the V, both ruddervators should move left for left rudder and right for right rudder.

RE: V-Tail Question
in my first post i said
with left rudder the left elevator goes up and the right elevator goes down in my second post i said with right rudder the left elevator goes up and the right elevator goes down |
RE: V-Tail Question
they are both moving left now with left rudder and right with right rudder
Thanks |
RE: V-Tail Question
Yes you have them correct - in the future for yourself or anyone reading this thread on Vtails: hold the plane up at a knife edge postition and view from the back of the plane with the Vtail, (one half of it) as a normal vertical rudder and reflect the surface and verify it is correct. Then twist the plane 180 degrees and and view the other Vtail half and see that it too is deflecting properly as per rudder input.

RE: V-Tail Question
It's not like i've ever made a mistake before.
Well maybe once or twice |
RE: V-Tail Question
Another way to remember is they move the opposite of your ailerons.
From behind the plane with Left Aileron stick input, left goes up, right goes down. From behind the plane with Left Rudder stick input, the opposite of aileron. |
