Ninja Questions

Just got a Ninja today and seen that it has a groove where the fuse halves are joined together and also has a ridge line on the wing tips and leading edge. Was wondering how anyone else addressed these issues? I had intended really only to paint trim but I guess I'll have to paint the whole thing. Fill the groove with spackel. The ridge on the leading edge and wing tips I suppose sanding them out would not take away ant structurel integrity any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks Tony

Hi Tony,
about the wing, the seam may have some flash around the perimeter. Remove with 220 sandpaper and finish off with 400. There should be plenty of filler in those areas. About the fuselage. You can sand, fill and paint the seam but not nessacary for other than to satisfy yourself. I like painted planes myself. Tom

Tony,

FYI: The items you asked about are present on every other composite painted in the mold pylon racer out there, be it Q500 or Q40. Most racers (except for maybe Tom), fly them as is after a few minutes scraping with a razor blade. Easy-peazy.

Yes I understand it is the nature of the beast. Just wanted thoughts on it. Didn't know if guys fly it as is or not. I want some type of trim

Pretty cool paint work. Did you paint them or the guy in Portland?

scoeroo 01-23-2016 06:59 PM

I do my own paint work -
I bought the 2 bare air frames (all white) off you Tom

The roo's are 24 k gold - they face outboard on the top of the wing and face inboard on the bottom, plane is painted top & bottom with what I call roofire (a play on words)

The yellow is a pearl with fine gold fleck, looks better in the sun (both of them)

I remember now. They are beautiful. Looks like you are having fun with them.

Yep.....
They're a blast to fly, they good for keeping the fingers in rhythm before flying jets
Flying at speed is totally different than flying a 43%'r aerobatic

Wow love the yellow one with the checkering. Did you airbrush that

scoeroo 02-15-2016 11:08 AM

Vinyl base template with some back edge missing - transition in to smoke ......all air brush
Both planes run JETT QII Q500 428 engines
