Chuck Bridge built this plane for me, and I thought it looked so good I had to share. Of all the composites I have flown, the Vortex seems to fly the best. About a week after this plane showed up, I asked him to build another just like it. Unfortunately his waiting list is about 6 months. If you want one of these, you will have to wait your turn. As far as I know, Chuck doesn't play favorites. Get in line and wait.....

That looks nice Dave, fly it like you don't have a dollar in it. I hope my dad plays some favorites, at least with me? I know he doesn't though. I asked if I could get a new one before the Nationals and I got the "probably not" comment. I can't complain though.

Hope it fly's great. See ya in July...

I put the first two flights on the Vortex today, and everything went very smooth. 1 click of left aileron was all that was needed for perfect flight. Chuck did a good job of setting the tail incidence on this one. Weight came in at 3 lbs 10.8 oz, a little heavier than I like on a quickee, but I was using a 6volt pack. Next time I fly it, it will be on the course.

Those must be tough airplanes. :D

BTW, I'll see you at the Nats. And if my planes survive practice and/or I can keep enough ready, I'll be flying 428 and 422.

Generally, the balsa / foam quickees are more durable. In most of the mid-airs I have seen, the composites usually get the worst of it.

Then again, it kinda depends who hits who. Typically, the plane that flies into the other plane comes out better, and in some cases without a scratch.

Look forward to meeting you in Muncie.

Bill "the mad man" Vargas .... I certainly didn't fair very well, crashing yet another Q40, after I just went 1:00.07... now that will put you in a bad mood.. had a ton of fun though.

But what about my teammate Travis Flynn. Sweeping up on Sunday, winning both classes with a little bonus of fast time in Q500 with a 1:04 and change... I'd say he is ready for the Nats..

Great job Travis....

Mad Man ???

RB, Those 2 hits (midairs) were the first ones I've encountered since winter fest,,, lucky or not, that Vortex to me is a Strong Plane,,, I kinda felt your pain when your Q40 went away.

That was one heck of a SMACK FEST this weekend, lots of carnage.

I'd say that Travis guy is on a mission?

Don't feel to bad for me, that's racing.. I felt worse for Danny Coe, he was just taking off and her I come from lane 1 over to lane 3 and kill him. We all make mistakes though.... I would rather get that bad stuff out of the way before the Nats anyway. So the way I look at it, you and I should be ready to go for the Nats.....

Good racing with ya.

Yeah, Thanks for the lesson Bridge....... I am saving my plane for the NATS but need Flynn to call for me when we race. Can you accomodate that?

All my love........I think I'm going to vomit. Mikey, you go to the Nats and everbody there will help you. Personally I get a little quite at the Nats trying to stay focused on what's important, but don't worry brother...

Mr. Vargas, what lessons? whatever it was that you may have learned from me...your certainly welcome!! Actually at the local races this year, I haven't been one to watch. All I've tried to do is go fast, with winning taking a back burner for now. Winterfest, The Nats, and JR Gold series have been my main focus.

Travis is the one to watch, excellent display of patience and timing for when to pounce. We should be addressing him as the forever holding "National Q500 Record Holder".........

RB, The one BIGGEST thing I have learned from you is to fly the line and to carefully prep the plane for the next heat! There are a few other things but no need to go into details.

Yea TF is the guy to watch now but its still a pleasure to learn from you,,, I was happy to see TF get his plane back together and continue on with the Race!

Well, thanks for the nice comments and good job on noticing some of the little secrets. Attention to detail is a must..

Don't over practice for the Nats and burn out, it's a long week back there...

Don't vomit RB, you will have trouble needling my motor which turns 2k down from yours. Also, the nats are too expensive and far away.
P.S.- Thanks for the plane, radio, battery and engine.
Can you fly my next heat.

"All my love"? Is there something going on that the rest of us don't know about?

Randy....how much practice can e done without burning out before the Nats? Some of us are rusty since we haven't been flying much and need to catch up...

And as far as All my love, I haven't the slightest clue... practice until your fingers bleed.....

But I had some trouble avoiding traffic.....it took me out of first place both days.....besides...I only did a 1:02, Mr. 1:00.....

R.Bridge 06-13-2002 09:46 PM

Vortex

Traffic was a little problem for you. It was like making a lane change on the 405fwy at 190mph....some times things just do go the way you want. Look at me, I tried to take off sideways until I hit the lane three guy (sorry Danny Coe).....and the proud bird is toast !!.... my 1:00.07 machine is dead ...

Going to practice this weekend, getting ready to get it on in Muncie!!
