Dominator assembly help

I am finishing up my dominator 500 by lanier. I am having troubles getting the aileron rods to clear the rear wing block. Has anybosy else had this problem? It seems like i have to grind back the wing block almost to where it meets with the fuse cross support (right behind the wing block) .
Any ideas how to fix this?

Q-500 Common Servo Setup

RVD;

Here is a picture of what alot of us Q-500 racers do and where we locate the V-tail or if your running standard (Rudder and Elevator servo's). Only Reason alot of us do this is for Balance and short coupled controls (Means no slop).

You will see that the Servo's are mounted behind the wing. Very easy conversion.

Hope this helps.

BTW this isn't a Dominator :)

RVD the photo that Jack posted above is what you wanna do. Of the three Preditors that I have assembled all had the aileron torque rods too far apart and would conflict with the wing bolt block in the 'U' or "V' notch between the blocks. The average distance between them has been 3/4 to an inch apart.

The solution if you plan to use the original torque rods is to cut the notch in between the two rods and simply slide them closer togeather in the middle before you install the ailerons. If you keep them no more than about 3/8" apart it will not be neccessary to releive so much from the bolt block. Of course you do have to make another hole in the aileron for the other end of the rod that you moved inward.

Thanks for all your replies.. I have my ailerons set up just like the pic Jack posted. I grinded a little of the rear wing block and got it to fit good . The only problem i have now is the battery! LOL
I can't fit my standard 4 cell(AA size) battery pack so I am using a 4 cell pack i made from cordless phone batteries. The only problem is that they are rated for 270Mah . That is not alot of flights. Is this ok for a couple flights? What battery configurations do you gentlemen use?

270 Mah packs are just what the Doctor ordered. Just top it off after each flight. Well actually you can fly atleast 3 races or more with it but I peak it just to make sure.

Jack, you should give my friends Batteries a try! This way you don t have to keep taking your Race plane apart all the time between heats.

270 mah batteries

Heck,

I'll go a whole day of racing without charging my 270 mah packs. I feel very comfortable going 7 heats on one of these packs.

Just remember, your only talking 3-4 minutes Max from Startup to landing per heat.

Really Daven;
hmmm I flew four times which I thought I was pushing the limits and I did. 2" before touch down lost the battery. So I only go two now and top off just for safety.

Think I better order some new packs.

Thanks Bill send me his address I'll give them a try.

I use to run mine out the aft of the Fuse, Now I have a clear tube in the bottom of the fuse which allows the Antenna to stay inside the fuselage. And ease itself around the outedges of the inside of the fuse.
