Guys, a great day for racing with sunny skies, light winds and a remarkable race course. Mike Langlois and Jim Katz did an awesome job of organizing and orchestrating this great event!! I also must mention all the helpers Mike and Jim had recruited and trained to work the different areas to make this race National quality!!

Some really close and action packed racing!! I’ll let Mike or Jim post the results as they have the entire computer generated score sheets and such. I wanted to start this thread so everyone else could also post their pictures and comments.

As you can see from the pictures we had a great turnout with several different design racers being seen. You can also see my before and after shots of my BuckShot after a slight mishap between 2 and 3!! Yep, Einstein’s theory still holds!! No two objects can occupy the same space at the same time!!!!![sm=cry_smile.gif]

Looks like Doug Whittaker was there and brought the "original" Vipers. It's nice to see some of the racers from the 80's and 90's coming back to race.

Yep, there were a few older designs flying well yesterday. Kind of tells you how well some can still twist the sticks:D

Here is a picture of my Quickie 500 MKII. The same as the Spickler Quickie 500 but a little slimmer to meet todays requirements. I also modified the airfoil a bit. Only got two laps with it as the muffler came loose. I plan to do some testing later own with her!!:)

Dang Bob, ouch on your Buckshot. Often one's best looking models are short lived while the "dogs" live forever.

Looks like a great site, I'm hoping to make the October race there with a brace of neon green Seeker's. I'll even buy a couple 25FX's so I can race 2 classes; our local club runs a quickie class with 40FP's or LA's as the engine so the performance should be similar. I'm hoping after this year we amend the rules to allow the 25FX since neither of the other two are available new anymore.

Scott, you got to make the October race. All the old guys were out yesterday. John Gibson, Jim Katz, John McDermott, Greg Doe, etc. It would be great to get together and bench race a bit!!![sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

PS: John Gibson won Quickie 25 and 424. I was ahead of him before my midair. He actually crashed on the 8th lap of an earlier heat after dragging a wingtip out of one due to a strange puff of air rolling him over. Just broke the prop!!:)

WOW! That's all I got to say is WOW! Well maybe not all! What a great day of racing.

Bob Harris, I'm sorry we bumped you, err, you bumped us, err, we ... oh well, in the last heat of the last round of Q25;). I think our racer will live again but looking at your carnage, I'm sorry. That was an awesome heat and just as I was telling Robert to watch out that you were going to try to come inside us, you were there and POW.

I would like to thank Jim and Mike and all the helpers that put on this fantastic, 1st class meet. I have a tremendous act to follow with our meet at CCRC in June. Robert and I had a wonderful time and learned a LOT, this being the first 3 pole race we had ever attended. It was great to have some seasoned veterans and past national champions to talk to and ask questions of. That doesn't happen very often. One reason is because of the class in Mike and Jim putting on these races. Congratulations on a job well done.

Well put Jay.
Those guys really went over the top to give us a first class place and event to race at. I can't wait till the next one.[8D]

Well, the inaugural Old Julian Airport race is history now,and several folks have given their account
of what a really good event it was. The race came off pretty much without a hitch. There were no
equipment problems, the light system at 1 was spot-on and they were easily seen even in the early
morning with the sun directly on them. Only a couple of heats had to be reflown. All in all, it was a very
well run event and the organizers are already working hard to make it an even bigger success in the fall.

An awful lot of work went in to putting this race on........a LOT of work. Below is a list of the people that
deserve a big "THANKYOU ALL FOR A JOB VERY WELL DONE".

C.D.&Starter ...............Jim Katz
Cut Judges...................Herman Smith , Steven Langlois, Joseph Langlois
#1 Light Operators........Lori Langlois, William Newlin, Amit Vera, Willis Mlo, Brian Pardue
Timers&Lap Counters....Paola Langlois, Berkley Trevino, Marco Trevino, Shane Adams

Also a very special thanks to the ladies that cooked ,cleaned , entered data and "bought red socks"!!!

Mabel Langlois, Betty Smith, Liz Katz, Phylis Phillips, Rebeca Newlin

Please forgive me if I have left anyone out. Once again, and I think I speak for everyone....
THANK YOU ALL VERY, VERY MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!

In finishing, there is one last person that gets the biggest thanks of all. This is the guy that not only
had the vision to do this, but spent 2 years on the bulldozer, burned a "million" pounds of brush, planted grass,
cut grass and PAID for, a beautiful place his friends could come and participate in a very professionaly
run event.........................

THANK YOU...........MIKE LANGLOIS
John G.

Anyone seen the results posted anywhere? I can't find them. I have the 424, but wanted to see the Jett 40, 428, 422. Thanks in advance.
