2.4 g in viper

What is the best way to rout the two wires for the 2.4 g receiver in the viper fuse? Thanks in addvance. ;)

Futaba or Spektrum?

Futaba. I had one in a Viper and I ran one antina fowerd and the other backward. It worked good ,but was wondering if the rest of you guys did it that way or what.;)

They are suppose to be 90 degrees apart ... not one forward and one backward on the same line ... I seen many guys who just chuck it in and no reports of glitches. One of them is my good pal who runs on a 2.4 Futaba, he is flying the Viper too. Never heard about a glitch at all.

RE: 2.4 g in viper

Thats the problem. There is no way to get them 90 degrees apart in a Viper. Its good to here that there are few prob. with 2.4 even if we arnt doing the 90 degrees thing.;)

RE: 2.4 g in viper

just to be clear here... RF interferrance will result in "fail safe" activating with 2.4 systems. Glitches are related to old school FM stuff. If your 2.4 ever "glitches", it's not an RF issue. You'd want to look at a faulty servo problem.

No problem with 90 degree. Remember only the short section of the Futaba receiver antenna wire is actually the antenna. I run one down the fuselage side and add a 3/16 square balsa stick across the fuselage 90 degrees to the side and put the other antenna tip there. I use masking tape to hold them down just incase of a crash so they will release easily. I've been running them in Quickie 25, 424 and 428 with no issues.

RE: 2.4 g in viper

Only the last 1.25 inches of the wire (the shiny part) is the antenna and needs to be oriented approximately 90deg from the other. The rest of the wire is a coax cable (transmission line) and can be oriented any way with the other. Be careful not to put a tight bend or kink in the transmission line. That can cause a loss of signal strength from the antenna to the receiver.

Steve, its tough to tell from that picture, but it looks like one is going forward and one is going backward, but it looks like they are parrallel to one another.

To be at 90 degree your setup looks fine, but one needs to be angled upwards at 45 degrees, and other needs to be angled downwards at 45 degrees to give you the proper placement.

It may just be the picture though, I'm not sure.

you are correct dave, the are just front to back, not a whole lot of room back in there, i may change it though, i have range checked this plane way beyond the recommended walking distance</p>

Ok this is what I came up with. Sorry my pic is a little out of focus. If you can see I bent the silver part of the wire sideways and the other antina is pointing strait backwards. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ular_smile.gif

what servos are you using?

RE: 2.4 g in viper

They look like either Hitec 80's, 81's or 85's.

Never a fan of those for quickie v=tail elevators, but know many people have done it.

They are HS 81. I am thinking of putting some stronger ones in , but havn,t made my mind up yet. I don,t race much anymore. Just love Q-500. Beleave it or not for just flying a round by yourself they work well.;)
