Default Q40 muffler

I am looking for a Pitts style muffler to fit a Quadra 40. I already have the Bennett exhaust collector. I want something quieter than that. Anyone using anything better than the Bennett. I restricted the pipes using copper pipe reducer fittings. It helped some, but it still is louder than I want.

You might try modifying one of the spark arresting mufflers off of some junk yard weed eaters. If you attempt this, monitor the CHT for overheating. Restricting noise usually means back pressure, and that translates in to an overtemp situation if you are not careful. I have used baffle type mufflers to some degree of success in noise matters. Check with Bennett also. They can custom build mufflers to your specs.
