Default Breaking / running in an ASP 52

I've just taken delivery of a new ASP 52 engine, this one here:
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...S_Needle_Valve

The instruction manual doesn't mention a break-in procedure for the engine. What procedure should I follow?

Is it worthdisassembling the engine to clear any metal shavings that might be inside the engine?

Also, I might as well seal the engine. Is it a common practice to seal the cooling head where it mounts on top of the engine? (with silicon gasket maker). Or just the backplate and carb?

Thanks in advance!

You can pull the back plate for inspection if you wish, but I never have, and never encountered a problem. Some have found chips, so open it up and check to ease your mind. Don't seal anything on reassembly, it doesn't need it, and you'll only make a mess. Especially do not try to put any sealant on the head to cylinder mating surface. It is designed for metal on metal seal, so don't do it. Go to the glow engine forum and search for break-in instructions there. You want to run it rich (but not "four cyle" rich to the point it misses), since it is an ABC construction. Slowly lean the mixture as you run in a few tanks through it (bench run or mounted on plane on ground) to run it in before you fly it. Keep rich mixture for several flights before you lean it out. Good luck with your new engine!

Here is a link to the O.S. instruction manual that should help:
