lipo in a dx7
ok time to open a can of worms i noticed my tx stock battery is charging less and less mah every time im going to convert to a lipo 3s 11.1v but here is my conserns will it work fine if i just install the battery in my trans the read out will be 12.6 volts full charge. or shopuld i add 1 recetfying diode in and drop it .6 volts or add 2 and drop it 1.20 volts? if anyone is useing a conversion on a dx7 please let me know i read the reglulater in the tx has no heatsink ( opened it up to comfurm and sure enough it does not) im just wondering beings there is a low volt draw if i should add the dioes or not and i dont really feel like messing with the volt regulator in side the tx as some sight s give this as a quick fix i need help this is driving me nuts on what way to go

RE: lipo in a dx7
Ran my DX7 for yrs with a diode in the line with no problems. I cut one of the wires to the jack in the side so I wouldn't accidently try to charge it through there with an old age brainphart.I used one of the ones from HK with the proper connectors for JR and Fut. plus tha balance plug. Popped the cover off the back and charge it about once a month with hard use.

I sold it to upgrade to the DX8 , but if I remember right, full charge showed about 11.6 volts but soon dropped to just under 11 volts and stayed there for most of the charge. This was with one diode. The guy I sold it to is still using it.

I have the DX7 and found a lipo on e-bay made just for thr JR radio, just have to take it out to charge it,but it lasts for quite a few trip s to the flying field.Made me a happy camper. I also bought the RCATS starting battery, goes for $105.00 but you only have to charge it about every 18 months! And I fly alot!
