Default Quick CG Question

I just picked up a twist 40 at a swap meet. I went over the whole thing and fixed the little problems I saw. Well i went to check the CG and it is way tail heavy. Am I supposed to check the Cg with a full or empty fuel tank? I am hopeing to get it out this weekend for my maiden on it

Do it with the fuel tank empty and the airplane upside down. CG should be 4 to 5 inches behind the leading edge near the fuselage per the assembly manual.

If you need to add weight to the nose, you could place your battery in a sandwich bag and place it under the fuel tank.

Thank you for the answers. I thought it was empty but just wanted to make sure. I will have to try the battery under the fuel tank because the CG is way off. I may still have to add some weight to the nose. This is the first plane I have had where the weight is off this much and just wanted to make sure I do it right.

You can sometimes slide the engine out on the mount to get the CG right. Planes like a Twist with out a cowl are really easy to do.
