Default HINGERS POINTS


Hi all I was thinking about useing hinges points and pockets and was wondering what you guys thing of them or use them.

I have not used the pockets (where you can remove the hinge point after installation) but I do use regular hinge points epoxied in permanently. I like hinge points and use them in a few planes. Only thing is, you have to plan ahead in your build to make sure you have enough wood to secure them to. Some times you need to add a small piece of balsa to give enough "meat" to glue the hinge point into.

Same here. I dont use the pockets. I find the hinge points easier to drill for.

Pockets?? Flat hinges? I use both on any given build. Hinge points are great but as mentioned, you have to think ahead and install some wood behind the edges so you have some more wood to glue and drill into. Flat hinges not so much, they even work on ARFs that call for CA hinges.
