Dennis Bryant Fiesler Storch Jury Struts Problem
Hi
I am just in the process of building the Dennis Bryant Fiesler Storch and converting it to electric also.
The build is from a set of plans, so everything has to be scatch built.
All is going well, but I am having some problems with the struts, specifically the jury strut.
The main struts are not a problem, and the connection at wing and fuz is straight forward. The connection of the jury strut to the main strut is also fairly straightforward.
The problem I'm having is how the jury strut connects to the wing. Nothing is shown on the plans other than the shape and size of the jury strut.
Has anyone built one of these, and how did you connect the jury strut to the wing?
Hope anyone can help.
Thanks in advance.

nanokem , I am not sure which version you are building 70" or 96".
I have built the 96" Storch and am now working on another of the same size . Yes the plans are a bit unclear with regards to the jury struts . I decided to build up the jury stuts so the just insert into a plywood plate in the wing panel. They do not fasten in ,but are merely held in place by the wing struts. The end of the jury strut penetrates the wing by about an inch (the depth is stopped by a soldered on washer that rests againt the wing bottom).
I will try to load some pics later of what I have described .

RE: Dennis Bryant Fiesler Storch Jury Struts Problem
Hi CK1
Thank you so much for the reply and the photos.
Mine is the 70" version. I was thinking along similar lines to you. The main struts fully functional and the jury struts as a more cosmetic feature. Your idea of the free moving of the jury struts at the wing junction is excellent and I may well copy your method.
I think I was just trying to get confirmation that the main struts on their own would provide the necessary structural support.
Thanks again for the help
