Hi Guys,

I was looking at these Savox servos to power a 50cc plane:

The specs look good (222oz torque) but I did read that they are power hungry. I was going to power the receiver with a 6V 2700mah Nimh pack and I am wondering now if this would be enough for these servos. I could install a Smart Fly power expander and a second battery but I'm trying to keep the install as simple as possible.

Is anyone presently using these servos? Any input?

I just went through a set of these for a 50cc gasser for a magazine review. Yes, they are nice servos. I wouldn't say they are any more power hungry than any other digital servo in the same class and that battery should be plenty.

As with any digital servo, make sure the throws are set correctly so there's no binding.

Thanks for your input. I guess I can give them a try...there is a local dealer that sells them and the price is great. The HiTec 5645's are approximately the same price and same speed but the torque is quite a bit less so that's one of my main motivators for looking at Savox.

Chopper guys have been flying them for a while under the Align name and they are becoming the defacto standard for CCPM helis.
