Default How do you assemble a hand fuel pump?

I attached a picture of a new hand pump I bought today. I'm confused about two things:

1. What are the bolts for?

2. Does it matter whether the fuel intake tube (the one with the bigger filter) goes on the right/left tube connector of the main pump assembly (same for the fuel output tube)?

Short, quick answers appreciated!

Daniel.

Had several of those pumps, same design, different brands
The screws are for attaching the pump to the box I believe... never bothered, always hand held.
Nope, the pump is two way so it doesn't matter which nipple acts as in or out.
I prefer clockwise in, anti c' out ...you just have to experiment.
You will of course need to add extra fuel tubing. What they supply is only enough to go between the lid and the can bottom.

Short and Quick:

As noted it does not matter which nipple on the pump is used for the pickup, that only effects the direction you turn the pump.

This is the way I use my geared manual solidly attached to the fuel container if you use it dangling from the can or solidly attached to a flight box you will never realise the full utility of these types of systems:

If you cannot find metal cans with metal caps which I then solder two small brass tubes into, then Dubro also has a thru cap system which works well with plastic caps.

The Dubro fillin station I also highly recommend to my students if they cannot source metal cans/caps or cannot solder. It also mounts your pump solidly to the plastic fuel bottles and works very well and includes a quick holder for your pocket type ignitor:
