I did it on mine. Servos on the bottom wing, connecting rods on the aileron trailing edges. Worked like a champ. I flew mine with a saito 1.20 at 14lbs. Did great slow aerobatics. Lots of lift and landed even better with -1.5 deg incidence on the top wing. It would land at a walking speed. My Ziroli stearman doesnt have ailerons on the top wing and still rolls pretty good, even faster if help it with the rudder. The ailerons on my stearman are much larger than what the P90 has. I dont like the mix idea because it might affect other maneuvers I might want to do.

I built mine with only the bottom wing ailerons, it does roll OK but would have benefitted from top wing 'rons I am sure. If I were to do it again, I would add them to the top.

I did 1.5" wide strip ailerons on bottom and top. The trailing edge of both wings were, I think (this was a lot of years ago), were about 3/8 to 1/2. I used dubro plastic flat hinges. A guy in a local club has one for sale.

I have an old Phaeton .40 (not the Phaeton II) that is all stock, and I find the roll rate to be fine. I fly it scale like and do basic aerobatics with it. As it is set up now, it does a full roll in about 3 seconds. I have more travel available if I want it, but I'm happy with it as it is. If you want it to fly like an Ultimate Biplane so you can do 3D with it or just have the 1 second and less roll rates, then you'll need the top ailerons. But if you want it to look like a real biplane in the air, the stock setup is plenty.
