I want to do it right! Advise Appreciated
Looking some direction. I have had quiet a few plane over the years mostly glow because I like the faster stuff with just a few gassers mostly which were purchased RTF for the most part. I have liked the H9/Carden Hybrid Yak since it first came out a few years ago and recently acquired one NIB. I want to do this plane right especially being it is a plane I have always wanted and it is no longer produced and I am not trying to create a speed demon.
Here is the direction I am thinking and really hoping that if I am getting off track you guys will steer me straight. I am currently flying with a JR 9503 which I think is a great radio and I really like it. It is one of the first models that came out and the first 2.4 I bought after retiring my FM 9303. So I plan to stick with that radio. Like I said the airframe is the 50 cc H9/Carden Yak. This is as much as I have purchased but here is a tentative shopping list and where I need some direction: I am leaning towards a DA Engine 50 or 60 cc with Slimline Pitts Muffler, Wike IBEF cutoff (No External Switch), Dual Hobbico LiFe 3200 mHa batteries with a Smart Fly Bat Share, JR R922X Powersafe Receiver w/4 satellites (No External Switches), Spektrum DS821 Servos on throttle and choke, Spektrum A6030 on Rudder, Spektrum A6020 on wings and elevator (None of the servos are HV), DA Fuel Dot, HiTec HD twisted wire extensions, and a Vess Prop with a purple Tru Turn Spinner. Trying to be as specific as possible.
With all of this said, do I need a Smart Fly Power Expander? Are these Servos the right choice? Is it a mistake by not using any switches other than the soft switch on the JR Receiver? Is the factory hardware sufficient? Please do not take this as sounding arrogant that is not what I mean but I am not worried about trying to save a few dollars. I am after a first rate 50 cc Airplane and just want everything as near perfect as it can be.
Now, WHAT SAY YOU? If I am not asking too much, please elaborate.
Thanks,
tes21966

The 9503 is a great radio and perfect for your new airplane, and the soft switch is all you need to get the job done properly, everything else sound good. So the very best to you...

It all looks great to me. The spektrum servo's are a great choice for budget minded higher quality servo (I personally hate Hitec's).
I think the servo controlled choke isn't necessary, but thats my personal opinion.
A Cannister muffler setup would be a good addition to your setup. A friend of mine has a DA-50R on his with a cannister setup and it is extremely quiet and provides plenty of power. The H9/Carden yak is by far one of the best flying models i've flown in 22 years in this hobby.
The DA Fuel dot probably won't fit. There isn't allot of room around the front of the fuselage around the wings to place a large dot. I used a MPI Fuel dot setup on my buddies and it was still a tight fit and it was only about 1/2" in diameter.

I am running a cannister on my DA 50 and it is real quiet ( also puts the smoke pump residue further back on the bottom of the fuse) also try the Jemdot fuel dots on e-bay they are without question the best out there and they look awesome and come in 3 anodized aluminum colors

This is just my opinion but the best fuel dot on the market is going to be the smallest, lightest dot I can find. I say this because I am always looking for ways on keeping my airframes as light as possible. There is no need to carry around any more extras then is absolutely necessary.

Being the plane is already set up for cans, that does seem the way to go. Thanks for the information on the fuel dots. I have got to have one of some kind.

The da fuel dot I have is pretty big. It fits my 100cc edge but it just too big for my 50cc yak.
You can run a power expander if you want but not needed at all unless u want to run hv servos
The power expander will give u batt share and optic kill switch along with voltage regulator.
I bought my first DA engine not long ago I see the difference get the DA 60 and cans if you have room

Your running a power safe receiver so there is no need to be running an expander for your application. Keeping it simple, keeps it light. Here is my 35% Extra 260 with a power safe receiver, two 2100 lipos, 5 8711s, soft switch, and a DS 341 throttle servo. Oh, and a DA 85cc for power.

I think your batteries are way to big.
I fly my DLE 55 3D plane with 2 HS 7940's a 7945 on elevator and a 7950 on rudder. a standard digital HV on throttle. I use only two 1600 MAH lipo batteries. I get three flights out of these before I recharge. these two batteries run the ignition also. I try to keep the plane light also as it has 1400 sq and is only 13.5 pounds dry.
I would go for the 2100 LiFe's not the 3200's

I knew they were a lot but I bought them NIP from a flying friend for about half price. He did not want to buy a different charger so he sold me the batteries.

Guys I really do thank you for all of the help and advise. Due to post and PM's I have received I think I need to upgrade to a bit higher torque servos. I am going to go with the DA60 being it does in fact mount with normal standoffs and not several sheets of ply like I was told. Can muffler also seems like a better option than a std muffler of even a pitts. So far today, I have ordered a JR 922 receiver with the optional 4th satellite, a Tech Areo IBEC with blue light, and a Tru-Turn 3.5" Spinner.
UPDATE. Add JEM Fuel dot X 2
Being home sick without wife looking over my shoulder is getting expensive. LOL.
Happy Easter to all

I forgot to mention, if you use a power safe receiver then you cannot use a Smart-Fly expander box like the EQ-6 or the EQ-10, the two don't mix. This may be an issue with other expander boxes as well, so you may need to research this for yourself depending on what your final plans are.

Sensei,
You are correct according to what other members have said. I can eliminate the power expander, the bat share, and all external switches by using the 922 RX. With the money I am saving by not needing these items, I am going to buy my can exhaust and upgrade servos. Everyone that has responded to this thread and sent PMs has been a lot of help and I thank you all.

This might be seen as off topic but never the less a good tidbit to incorporate into your assembly, you will want to epoxy the horizontal stabs in place as they get quite loose/ wobbly if left in the bolt on configuration !
