Default Painted Prop. Tips

Hey folks. Been thinking of painting some prop. tips, yellow or red. I like the look I guess. Rustoleum, has a paint made for plastic, but not yellow, and the red isn't what I want. They also have a plastic primer, that can be used with any of their other paints. So, what are you using? There must be more out there. What about nail polish?

Thanks

I always paint the tips of my gassers white as that is the most visible when running. I do it primarily for safety but, you can also use the paint to do minor balancing by painting the lighter side more heavily.

I always tip my nitro props with yellow enamel model paint. I usually use testors, or whatever is available at the LHS. You don't need much paint, so a small bottle will last a while.

I have red AeroGloss paint that I use for the tips of all my glow powered planes. While I do it for safety, it also adds a little snazziness to the planes.

Rebalance will be necessary but you can use the paint as the balance medium.

To be true to scale you should only paint the front of the prop and not the part the pilot can see.

For Red I use nail polish - dries fast and is heavy so balancing is easy.

If you are using APC props you can dye them using Rit dye. I have done this with black dye to make them look like CF props but I'm betting you can rig up a jig to hold the tips in the dye solution. The nice thing is no re balancing is needed. It is important to use only Rit brand and to mix with hot Vinegar.
