Default Pawnee question, or flap question.

My 5 year old loves planes, he loves the main plane from the movie "Planes", so I am going to make a Piper Pawnee that looks like Dusty from the movie. I got the plans and nave received the foam wings, should I make split flaps for it? Second question, should I try to make some type of spray system for it? I have not researched the spray system yet, but does anyone have ideas?

Thanks

Jon

Flaps are cool, but they aren't split on the full scale.

Spray system is a lot of tinkering, though its been done with compressed air and a mixture of corn starch and baby powder

Flaps can be a pain lower them with too much airspeed and the plane balloons on you. Not enough and even though they are lift augmentation devices the drag can get you

I'd say normal flaps. I love mine with flaps, it slows down nicely and doesn't change pitch trim one little bit between full up and full down flap

A sprayer can be made from just painted balsa sticks. It doesn't have to work.

Thanks guys, I think I will do normal flaps, I don't use flaps that much on my other planes, but I might like it on this one. I am still trying to figure out if i want to try to mess with a sprayer or not )

Unless you have been building for awhile stay away from split flaps. They are not easy to build in. Make your life easier and do the standard flaps.
