Default Recover or Patch Wing

[h=2][/h]
When I asked before I got some great questions. You know how it goes- after a day or so you come up with a zillion questions you forgot to ask. I have only 3... for now.

1) There is a tear that extends over one rib on the wing of my dad's Sultan. It is silk & dope. Should I patch from rib to rib and glue the silk to the existing rib?
I understand that smaller holes will be done as a surface repair.
2) Can I use current coverings to do the patching? If so how much would the color differ. Right now it is a Navy Blue base color with white trim.
3) With the patching, etc. will this cause undue drag in flight, or excess trimming?

Thanks,

Default

If your patch is flush with the wing surface you won't have any drag or balance issues
