Default Hitec servos

Building a SIG 4 Star ARF and was going to try Hitec servos this time. What is a good standard operational servo by them ? Just regular flying no standing on tails etc , couple loops and rolls maybe. So give a clue etc. Been running futaba's etc. Ok that is the question and thanks. gphil

Since I don't have a Sig 4 Star, neither you say which engine you will have installed. I will give you the tools I use to estimate the servos needed for a particular airplane that I'm not familiar with, or the specs are not listed on the manual....

Start with The expected speed of the aircraft:
http://www.rcpro.org/rccalc/pitchspeed.aspx

Then move to the required torque of the servos at the expected speed:
http://www.mnbigbirds.com/Servo%20To...0Caculator.htm

Hope that steers you in the right direction.

Default I like these

I've been using these for years in 40 size sport planes and recommend without hesitation. Good value for the products and support.

Standard analog:
HS-425BB Deluxe Ball Bearing Standard Servo
Part No:
31425S

High speed analog metal gear:
HS-625MG High Speed, Metal Gear Premium Sport Servo
Part No: 32625S

Here's a link to the Hitec servo's: http://hitecrcd.com/products/servos

Good luck!

All a 4* requires are standard servos, the 425BB is a pretty good servo for the plane. These can also be used in the 60 size 4*. In any standard servo getting them with ball bearings is a good idea, nothing wrong with the bushed servos but the BB is smoother {you wouldn't notice the differences } but they will last longer.
