Default Air line T-fittings

What is a good way to connect t-fittings to retract airlines? Mine seem to want to stop before seating all the way. This results in leaks. What is your secret? Also are metal t-fittings better than plastic?

When I was still using Dubro air/air I used a product called rubber ease to get the plastic lines over the fitting barbs. There are a number of products you can find at the auto parts store to help get those little lines over the barbs. If you use soapy water to check your lines right after the lines have been attached I have always gotten a few bubbles but they go away after a little time. The lines pumped to 100psi still held enough air for three days to still operate the LG several times.
I saw no difference between the metal or plastic barbs.

I use the metal tees and genuine spit to lube them up to get the lines on the T. I always leave my connections for about 24 hours and then check for leaks. Good Luck, Dave

Thanks for the replies. I bought some metal t's and some new hose and everything went together well. I have waited 24 hours and everything seems to be holding air.Good advice.
