Default RCU new add format??

Is this or is this not going to be the death null for RCU?? So far I think it's really sucks. RCU has already been going down hill and this isn't going to help it out at all.
Just wondering??

I have given notice on my build threads that as soon as I complete my current build I will be leaving this advertisement site. It was bad enough when they switched a few years ago and lost thousands from the "most users online, approximately 30K+ to it's current 7-8K, but with this new add issue I have had enough.
I will be on Giant Scale news and invite you guys along, it is a very nice site. Here is a link to my current all things Pitts thread, http://www.giantscalenews.com/thread...allenger.2728/ .

Well, I wasn't sure what I was going to do until a pop up for a MEET THE BABE TWO MILES AWAY with photo came up. From then on I unsubscribed to any post I was on, forgot this one.
I have been on RCU from 2003 and was a lurker before that. We used it instead of email back then, talking with other guys was fun. That's how the long timers came up with so many posts, a lot of BSing back then.
I'm slowing down anyway and not doing much in the way of building, this was my first summer without a build in decades. I do have a kit almost cut but it will now be a winter build and a slow one.
I have looked at other sites and tried one but I liked the people here. I just looked at the site Robert posted and have it book marked too.
Most the long timers are gone from RCU anyway so it isn't a great loss. The site will keep going on but it's been going down hill for a few year and this advertisement was just too much.
Anyone that needs anything from me can still PM.

GB. Does this mean you just "punched out" and you're done here? If so, it's a sad day for RCU as you have been a very valuable contributor. I have only been around RCU for a little over 6 years so I am not one of the old timers here but have tried to add my insight when I felt I had something valuable to add to the conversation. You and several others always make an earnest effort to help others sharing your wealth of knowledge in RC aviation matters. I have always enjoyed reading your posts and on occasion exchanging ideas and opinions with you. I hope I read your intentions wrong and you're not bailing out, but if you are I get it. I have also felt lately that things had "slowed down" here but thought maybe it was just me. I also share your dislike of the ad pop ups. The best to you, Larry

Pretty much the same here. Been here since the old R/C Online days, but I don't post much anymore. takes about 10 minutes these days to check the forums I frequent. Used to take an hour to look at all the new and updated threads. Sad for the R/C community, for sure, but as stated above, there are other sites.

Things sure change. I, too, remember the "early days" when this was a tighter forum. I see he need to seperate into splinter sub-interests . . . but then it's like 100 different forums instead of one.

I'm not near as active here as I used to be.

Still flyin'. That's the important thing.

Larry, I have slowed down a lot in the last year anyway. The new format is just the straw. How many years can you answer the same questions. THE WHAT SIZE PROP question is enough to make you shudder. No one today bothers to use the search engine then they get upset when no one answers in the first hour. People asking electric questions in kit building because then haven't bothered to look at all the forums and sub forums dwells on the stupid.
RCU itself has gone down hill, are there even moderators these days? Not that I have seen any heated arguments but all the add posts from Chinese distributors makes me wonder.
My PM is open so if anyone has a question about an old build or anything can just hit me directly.
Having a pop up that looks like it's from a porn site let me know that RCUs owners have seen site use slowing and decided to get the add money now while they still can?

GB, We all need to take a break away from things from time to time, and when needed outright change directions. Keep building and flying for your own enjoyment and don't worry about "what prop size" someone else didn't try. Best of luck to you, Larry

Yep, certainly slower on the forums these days...

Used to be regular as well; since the beginning (join date is misleading as I created a new acct with new webwide screen name instead of multiple identities across the web....remember how fascinating and surreal the whole thing was back in the 90's?) .

Too many changes in format, difficult to reach back into threads, or even find some that I participated in, loss of regulars and lack of good build threads just really made it not so attractive to peruse nearly every day. Even "club Saito" is a ghost thread anymore. Really miss the old crowd from when this was a really active place.

The hobby has significantly changed as well; not nearly as many folks at the field these days and far too many helis and drones there. They have their own area to fly with a large asphalt circle and grass circle, but insist on doing their thing all over the fixed wing runway. No interesting builds at the field either....all arfs.

Oh well, "the times they are a changin'...."
