The piece that fits between the fuse and the verticle stab is what make it unique and hard to identify for me.

SIG Kadet Mk-II. The kit # is RC-49.

Here's a pic of mine, just before she was finished:

And at the flying field:

Check at the bottom of my signature - website shows every kit they've ever put out.

I'm thinking MK II as well, converted to tail dragger though it does need a new nose cowl. Like the wheel pants on it, gives it a more finished look

Thanks everyone! I bought this plane for $25 last year. It needs all electronics. I am going to fix it up this winter. Thanks again.

You should still be able to buy the original cowl from SIG. Yeah, found it:

Part # ------------------------------------------------------------ retail $ ------------------ Cost from SIG

Plus shipping, of course.

She's an outstanding aircraft. My own has pretty much max allowable movement of the control surfaces - there's nothing she can't do, short of 3D. Flies fabulously on an old OS.40LA. I'm with Hydro Junkie - the taildragger configuration does her proud.

That's called the "dorsal fin". Looks like your Kadet has a K&B .40 with a Perry carburetor. Not the greatest engine by today's standards, but adequate for the task. Clean it up, and try it before replacing it. The carburetor has "o" rings in it that get hard, and leak over time. If you encounter trouble with the engine check out your local flying group for help. I've got several K&B .40's that are 40 years old, and still flying.
