Cool Oil mix for OS GT 15?

What IS the best oil mix for the gt 15. The Manual is giving me various options, I have a lot of 40/1 oil. What's the best mix for 1 gallon of gas. This is my first engine of this brand and type. I have Zenoahs no problem there,, I just don't want to over do it. It's brand new,,,just want to be sure I get the mix safely before I try to fire it up.
Thx. TAZZZZ

I have a GGT 15 with the glow plug. I ran 32:1 for the first gallon and then 40:1.

Do you think it'll be okay to start right off with 40/1 mixture?

Yes and for what its worth I have been actively using the spark version of the the GT15 since they came on the market I love that engine and it is used in a large cross country/duration float plane and its longest flight has be just over six hours.

I also just started using a DLE 20 in a N-28 and I have used nothing in both of these engines but Stiel synthetic (silver bottle) mixed at 50-1 since new (no break in fuel mixed richer). Formerly in some of my other larger gassers used mineral oil.

So it's okay to use 40/1 or 50/1 mix synthetic in the gt 15. Thanks, it puts my mind at ease. I'm going to get to it then. TAZZZZ

I am using Stihl HP Ultra synthetic oil in mine too. The OS instructions state to use 30:1 to 50:1.

I guess I'm a little confused,,,the manual says to use 25/1 to 30/1,the it says it checked the following oils with the mix of 50/1. I'm a little confused with these options. What does it mean they have checked with the 50/1 mix? I think I'm back to square one. TAZZZZ

Tazzzz I can only tell you what I do and the relative success by doing so and that's with a total of three different OS gassers now. All have had the "confused" wording in their Manuals . All three of them I happily acquired when they were introduced, starting with the 55 then the 33GT and finally the 15GT. All have serve well now for some years now and with all I choose to use Stihl synthetic 2.6 ounce (silver bottle) mixed at 50 to 1, and I used the same mix from the start with no richened mix for break-in.

Do consider the ease of use: Need fuel? Cool truck on down to your Stihl chainsaw dealer and pop for a six pack of the synthetic 2.6 ounce silver bottle oil. Now just dump one bottle of the oil in your fuel can and truck on over to pump in one gallon of gas, walla instant 50 to one fuel with no muss or measuring.

I have just added another gasser a DLE 20 and just did the maiden this last weekend in my BUSA N-28. The manual for this engine is hilarious written in Chinglish the only info on fuel or oil is simply "Use Good Oil". So this engine is getting the same diet as my OS gassers and of course no problem so far.

Use what works for you

John
