Running a Gas Engine on a Plane without the wing
I have Great Planes Giant Citabria with a DLE 35RA Engine, can I test run the engine on the plane without the wing attached, I don't plan to run it high RPMs, just to make sure it starts after I recently had a problem with it, Thanks.

I've heard it's not a good idea to run a gas engine on a plane without the wing. The wing will dampen the vibrations. But if I was only going to start it up and maybe not throttle up past a high idle for a few seconds, I might leave off the wing anyway.

Mounting the wing is preferable, but I recently started a couple gassers without doing so. Like you, I was just checking to see if problems had been solved. I didn't let the engines run for an extended period.
