Question Piston Rod And Piston Removal From a OS MAX SF 61 Engine

Gentlemen. I need to remove the piston rod and piston along with the cylinder sleeve from my OS MAX SF 61 engine in order to remove the crank and remove and inspect the rear and front bearings. How do I remove the piston rod from the crank. The edge of the piston rod sits down in a groove which keeps the piston rod on the crank as it rotates.

I have worked on several OS 61's and have the SF version, although I don't remember if I have disassembled it. I have had my best luck when removing the cylinder liner first (may take a little heat on the crankcase.) Piston at the top of its stroke to clear the groove in the case. Finally if you can slide the con rod backwards on the wrist pin it will be easier to get the con rod off the crank pin. I had an OS 60FSR recently where the con rod was seized to the wrist pin and I could not get it apart.

Thanks for the reply R8893. About 4 or 5 years ago I tore down a OS MAX FX 46 completely that was froze up all the way down to the engine casing. Unfortunately I don't remember how I got the piston rod off the crank or got the bearings out either. I'll try your way and see what happens and let you know.
