Default Pilot Edge 540 73" Tail Wheel Problem

Have a nice Pilot Edge 540 Hamilton but the damn tail wheel keeps breaking off. I understand this is a common problem with planes by Pilot. I found the wood was split long ways so I used Epoxy all along the surface then re drilled 3 not the normal 2 screws in the tail wheel.. If by chance this does not solve the problem, does anyone have some alternative ideas?

Change to a Sullivan tail wheel assembly of the appropriate size. The issue is the Pilot unit is too stiff.
