Default Sanwa 72 MHz FM Receivers Voltage

I have several old Sanwa FM and PCM receivers.
Am I limited to 4.8 volts batteries or can I safely use 5 cell 6.0 volts NiMH batteries too?

Hi!
You can use 5 cell NiCad or NiMH cells without problem.

Correct, those receivers can handle 6-7 volts without issue. Your servos might not.

Thanks for your replies.

I just remembered that it used to be okay back then to operate the older systems with dry batteries which would have meant 6 volts anyway so I guess it answers my question.

Concerning servos I use modern digital ones and they take 6 volts.
I think the older Sanwa 102 was also suitable for 6 volts because again, it was offered as part of the systems operating on dry batteries.

You are correct about the dry cell usage and 6 volts. However a 5cell NiMh can leave the charger at around 7 volts. I myself recently had a set of Futaba servos that had issues running a 6.6 volt LiFe battery. My fault as I didn’t do my research first.
