Sticking tissue to Guillows rubber kit

Thread Starter

Decided to relive my childhood by building a Guillows stick and paper rubber kit, the SE-5. (I'm now in my 80's and I was about 6 or 8 at the time, so that's some time ago. Have built many models since then, small and large, 1/2A to 90 nitro to electric and gas quarter scale. Doing OK with the kit, reliving memories but am a bit flummoxed trying to figure out what to use to stick the tissue to the frame. We used to use some clear glue out of a tube, Comet I think. Would like to use something that I can do a good looking job with, maybe good enough to be a display model. Can't think of anything to use other than perhaps some thinned wood glue. Any suggestions? TIA

You first paint the balsa structure with cellulosa paint (dope to you americans) and when it has dried (takes just a few minutes) you put on the tissue by taking a small paint brush dipped in acetone and paint over the tissue surface and at the same time press with your fingers over the surface. The tissue will adhere immediatly!
