Default Using Oratex

Does Oratex require a covering adhesive (Stix it, Cover Grip, etc.) like Solartex did or will it iron on to balsa without any sticking issues?

Neither Solartex or Orataex or any other plastic covering film need adhesive! Just iron it down!

This is my first experience with Oratex. I applied it as is off the roll. It stuck very well to both the bare wood stringers and the glassed sheeted areas. This is what they call white, it’s quite transparent which is not an issue as I intend to prime and paint. I’ve done a couple test samples to determine paint coverage and the amount of weave visible without primer.

Pilot OK models 1/3.5 Pitts Special. Will be done up in Art Scholl colors. Wings are already done in Monokote. I’ve been waiting for dry weather to paint the fuselage.

Thanks, I certainly hope so. It originally belonged to a club member that passed. I was told it was his favorite airplane. I have a habit of picking up these projects under these circumstances. I feel it’s a good way to honor our lost members.

I have a couple of unfinished projects that came from similar sources. It's rather depressing to think about. One was a first project, owner was up there in years), and he decided he didn't/couldn't finish it and sold everything to a guy I know. He It was a Top Flite Corsair with 4 servos and the retracts in it. He tried for 2 years to sell it and couldn't. I swapped a Goldberg Cub kit and Super Tigre .40 for it, he sold them in a week. I have a Goldberg Tiger 2 and a House of Balsa AT-6 partially built I saved from the trash heap, the owner went into a nursing home, dementia, and didn't last long.
